Who he was
Alfonso Fernández de Córdoba y Figueroa
Alfonso Fernández de Córdoba y Figueroa was a Spanish nobleman of the houses of Aguilar and Feria, sometimes known as Alfonso de Aguilar. He was lord of Villafranca and of Castro del Río, and in 1574 Philip II granted him the marquisate of Villafranca. He served as gentleman of the chamber to that king and to his father, Charles V, and as commander of Manzanares in the Order of Calatrava.
